| 英文摘要 | It’s an existing phenomenon that there was significantly higher the incidence of delirium and mortality for the elderly patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) compared with the average adult. The use of dexmedetomidine (DEX) compared to benzodiaepines (BZDs) can be associated with the potential for the prevention or treatment of delirium in the ICU. DEX provided effective sedation, analgesia and antianxiety without causing respiratory depression and allowed the patients to interact more effectively with the medical team. These favorable traits reduced the overall duration of sedation and the incidence of delirium, making DEX a viable option for preventing or reducing the risk of delirium in the highrisk elderly patients in the ICU. In palliative care, DEX can also be used to help patients to control symptoms and stress. The risk factors of DEX induced hemodynamic instability were the older age and lower basic arterial blood pressure. Here, through a clinical case of the actual situation, the role of DEX used in the elderly will also be reviewed from an evidencebased point of view. |
