英文摘要 | The aim of this experiment was to test the effects of dietary supplementation with probiotic, Enterococcus faecium SF68 (E. faecium SF68), to broiler on growth performance. The influence of probiotic supplementation on the moisture level of excreta and Escherichia coli (E. coli) counts within rectal contents, and the ileal histomorphological changes after a continuous E. coli (E. coli ATCC® 25922™) challenge from drinking water, were determined. A total of two hundred day-old Ross 308 broilers were allocated into 2 groups receiving a basal diet based on corn-soybean meal with 20 ppm E. faecium SF68 or not for 5 weeks. Each group consisted in 10 replicates of 10 broilers. The body weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion ratio of broilers were determined on day 10, 21, and 35. In the beginning of the forth week, birds started to be challenged by drinking water containing E. coli ATCC® 25922™ every day till the end of the experiment. The results showed that the final body weight, weight gain and feed intake from day 21 to 35 were significantly higher in the probiotic treated group than in the control group, whereas no significant differences existed in feed conversion ratio between the mentioned two groups. In the end of the experiment, there were no significant differences in the moisture level of excreta and ileal villus height, crypt depth or their ratios between two groups. The E. coli counts within rectal contents of the probiotic treated group was significantly lower than that in the control group. To sum up, the supplementation of E. faecium SF68 in feed would inhibit exogenous E. coli and resulted in better growth on broiler. |
