英文摘要 | In 1989, Chinese region of Singapore was designated as Chinatown Historic District under the Conservation Master Plan, and government start to preserve street district and shophouses. According to Singapore’s original urban planning in the British colonial period, shophouses has to be built “five-foot way” style in order to establish an unified facade of buildings along both sides of the street. In other words, Chinatown’s shophouses not only are the cultural heritage, but also the historic witness of Fujian style residences. However, these houses space which after conserved had occurred a great transformation. Therefore, through the analysis conservation regulations and field investigation, this study could clarify the renovation programs and impact factors, at the same time, it also could discuss the spatial layout and users’ behavior. Finally, this research has three goals as follows: 1. To explore the renovation work of the shophouses in Chinatown and its outcomes. 2. To determine the spatial characteristics and types of the shophouses in Chinatown. 3. To analyze the factors affecting the development of the shophouses in Chinatown. |
