英文摘要 | In 2006, the new yueopera The Story of Chunqinby Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe was first shown in Hanzhou Grand Theatre. Its debut has receivedwidespread attention from scholars.This yueopera is adapted from one of the Japanese writer Junichiro Tanizak’s 1930s’ classic aestheticism works --A Portrait of Shunkin. This yue opera was not only greatly supported and rewarded by China’s government, but also won a successful box office result. This article will examine the yueopera The Story of Chunqinfrom the perspectives of intercultural comparison and culturalconsumption and pay attention to the operation of the yue opera for the elements of “aestheticism” in its original work A Portrait of Shunkin. In this way, I will explore the cultural and economic aspects of adaptation strategy by the yueopera production team, and further analyse how “aestheticism” of this yue opera interacted with culturalconsumption in comtemporary China from the theory of post-modernist culturalconsumption. |
