英文摘要 | This paper intends to justify the feasibility of using massive open online courses (MOOCs) for lifelong learning. The paper explores the ideas of lifelong learning and the trend of MOOCs to figure out their relationship. Under analyzing and synthesizing related points, the research finds some features of MOOCs fitting the lifelong learning: MOOCs are available anytime and anywhere, MOOCs are free and for all, MOOCs’ scalability and repeated usage reduce the cost, MOOCs have flexible pedagogy, MOOCs create online learning communities for active learners, and MOOCs own various functions to fit various needs of lifelong learners. I find some reflections on MOOCs for lifelong learning: the quality of MOOCs is doubted, the disadvantaged are the minority in MOOCs, MOOCs lack the official credit, and there are some concerns about colonialism and marketization. The research infers implications for lifelong learning: MOOCs are good platforms for lifelong learning, but MOOCs need supporting measures to improve the feasibility for lifelong learning such as improving lifelong learners’ MOOCs literacy and encouraging learners to form the lifelong learning communities. |
