| 英文摘要 | The Smithsonian Institution was established in 1846, administers 19 museums , one zoo, nine research centers and 12 parks, and is known as the largest museum complex in the world. It is renowned as a large collection of museums, including a wide ragne of subjects covering natural history, science and technology, culture and art, truly a spectacle of the worldwide museum landscape. The Smithsonian Institution plays a key role in the sustainable development of Washingtion, D.C.. The purpose of this paper is to explore how the operational model of the Smithsonian Institution coordinates independent but connected museums as an organic complex. Another key issue is how the institution negotiates the nexus between public budgets and private investment, to make museums a strong third sector. |
