英文摘要 | National Tainan Grand Matsu Temple (which was grade one historic site in the past) is also called Tainan Matsu Temple. On the 11th of June, 2004, because the interior scaffold of Matsu statue was threatened by termites, the chest of proper statue cracked and fell don, making head and two hands break into two segments each. In the same year, Associate Professor Chang, Yuan Feng was commissioned to conduct research on it and supervise its restoration procedure, and the Du, Mu He workshop agreed to take part in the restoration work. Meanwhile, Associate Professor Chang invited retired Professor Junichi Mori, Professor Nagasawa Ichiro, and some experts for restoration assistance. From the start of restoration in January 2005 to the enthronement of Matsu statue on the 17th of February 2006, the statue was finally restored, showing the original 300 year-long glorious Matsu statue. However, even though it was professionally restored, the face of Matsu statue was required to make up with golden powder, and redo eyebrows and vermilion lips under the insistence of the temple members, which resulted in an antique restoration dispute between worshippers and experts. This article aims to use this case as an example to discuss some vague definitions, categories, and some potential problems based on our current relevant restoration and rescue according to Cultural Heritage Preservation Act. This includes different perspectives of professionals and folk customs on artifacts and antiques, some acts of restoration and rescue on monuments and antiques, and techniques and educational trainings of monument restoration and rescue, thus analysing Taiwan monument restoration and rescue in different contexts and providing a nouveau perspective and way. |
