中文摘要 | 第二型糖尿病 (Type II D.M.),在臨床上頗為常見,因糖尿病及其併發症是造成國人死亡之十大死因之一;因糖尿病而求診另類療法或傳統中醫藥頗為普遍,然而國內相關之研究尚未有較具嚴謹之臨床評估報告。根據美國及一些先進國家所作之研究, 65%成年人會尋求另類或補充療法;台大王德榮教授所作之研究, 80%曾服用過中藥或草藥以控制血糖。許多動物試驗顯示以 EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate)為主的綠茶提煉物,具有改善胰島素阻抗性及降低膽固醇及三酸甘油脂。本研究亦計畫藉由雙盲、隨機、對照方式進行初步臨床實驗,來探討綠茶提煉物是否具有治療改善第二型糖尿病人之胰島素阻抗性之療效。此外也要進一步分析綠茶提煉物與相關荷爾蒙及其他因子之關連,以進ㄧ步探討其可能機轉。 目前 (November, 2011) 試驗已收案 62位受試者其中已有 28位完成全程試驗及結案問卷訪談並已取得後測血液檢驗報告(實驗組,(R組) 12人、對照組 (S組) 16人),針對此 28 位,受試者進行初步的統計分析,目前各項血液生化數值及生活品質問卷分數可能因樣本數尚小而無看見顯著統計意義但在實驗組 (R組)的 BMI, HbA1c, Triglyceride有些微下降,趨勢,另外在實驗組 (R組) 的 HDL也有上升的趨勢,可望在結案達更大樣本數時看見統計上的差異。 |
英文摘要 | Type II diabetes mellitus (Type II DM) is a high prevalence disease in clinics, and its complications are also included in the ten top death causes in Taiwan. It is common for type II DM patients to look for complementary alternative medicine (CAM) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is currently lack of well designed, restricted clinical assessments or evidence. According to previous reports, 65% adults in the U.S.A. would seek for CAM for all kinds of health problems. Further more, Dr. Wang of National Taiwan University revealed that there are 80% of Taiwanese DM patients used TCM drugs or folk herb drugs to control blood sugar level. There were reports of animal studies showed that green tea extract, EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate), have effects of lowering cholesterol and triglycerides level and improvement of insulin resistance. The aim of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effects of green tea extract on insulin resistance improvement and related hormone peptides by a double-blinded, randomized and controlled clinical trial. Up to date (November, 2011), we’ve enrolled 62 subjects and there are 28 of 62 subjects have completed the full study and interview of the life quality questionnaires, the lab data of the 28 subjects are also available (EGCG extract (R) group n=12, control(S) group n=16 ). According to statistics, of 28 subjects, there is no significant difference in lab data and quality of life, which might due to the small sample size. However, we can observe that BMI, HbA1c and triglyceride slightly decreased, and HDL slightly increased in EGCG extract group. We hope that there would be a significant difference after enrolling more subjects. |
