英文摘要 | Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries in the basal ganglia. The name "moyamoya" means "puff of smoke" in Japanese and describes the look of the tangle of tiny vessels formed to compensate for the blockage. In children, the first symptom of MMD is often stroke, or recurrent transient ischemic attacks, frequently accompanied by muscular weakness or paralysis affecting one side of the body, or seizures. This case report describes the dental management of a 10-year-old girl with MMD who broke her upper front tooth on the right side. The preventive protocol for reducing the risk of strokes during dental treatment is provided as well. |
