英文摘要 | Carter G. Woodson, a professional historian, founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in 1915; it would become his life’s work. In order to facilitate communication between historians, Woodson edited the ”Journal of Negro History.” Together, the Association and the ”Journal of Negro History” functioned for black historians in ways parallel the American Historical Association and the ”Journal of American History”, which were of service to white historians. Woodson produced significant scholarly works that enhanced the scientific and objective research of black history, though he did not offer the first distinctive interpretations of the African American past as his research was based on previously ignored or unused primary sources. Woodson believed that historical knowledge offered solutions to many of the problems faced by black people, and could have a great impact on race relations. |
