英文摘要 | Guided by the tenet of sociology of school knowledge, this paper examinesfour children’s books that were published in English in the United States anddiscussed early Chinese immigrants’ experiences at Angel Island in the first halfof the twentieth century. Mainly, the discussion concentrates on the literaryrepresentations of the history in terms of authenticity and aesthetics. Historicalevents, settings, procedures, regulations, and participants portrayed in theresearch data are seriously examined based on the evidence drawn from a varietyof the historical records, laws, and research collected and presented by thescholars. The study concludes that the set of literature is considered to beculturally authentic and also successful aesthetically and may provide an accurateportrayal of the Chinese immigrants at Angel Island from 1910 to 1940. |
