英文摘要 | Li Zi-Kuan was once a key person in the history of Buddhist Association of China.Well-educated, Li Zi-Kuan passed the Qing Dynasty imperial examination and later studied abroad in Japan where he became involved in Sun Yat-Sen’s revolutionary movement. After returning to China, Li Zi-Kuan was appointed to numerous governmental treasury positions at local and central levels as well as occupying important posts within the Kuomintang. He was then valued as a good adviser by Chiang Kai-Shek. In 1917 Li began learning Buddhism upon the influence of many practitioners among his family and friends. In 1929 Master Tai-Xu, a close confidant of Chiang Kai-Shek, took Li as a secular student. Li’s loyalty and largess of time and money to further Tai-Xu’s goals earned his master’s favor. With the auspices of Chiang Kai-Shek, Li gained membership into Kuomintang controlled top Buddhist institution of Buddhist Association of China as an influential lay Buddhist, thus marking a notable divergence from his earlier career path. |
