| 英文摘要 | Ever since Chinggis Khan’s death, the Mongols have been treating him as a “holy anima”. His relics have been worshipped in the “Eight White Yurts” (naiman chagaan ger) until the beginning of the twentieth century. In the eighth year of the anchukuo emperor Kangde’s reign (1941), warriors from Japan built a brick and earth “Chinggis Khan Temple” on the slope of Wangiin Sume (Wangyemiao) under the slogan of “Gengikei was Chinggis Khan”. Many Mongols participated in the temple building with mixed feelings. When the Japanese returned to their homeland, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to build a brand new “Chinggis Khan ausoleum” next to the traditional “Eight White Yurts” in Ordos, aiming to distinguish itself from “the Japanese imperialist and the Nationalist reactionary” policies by showing benevolence to the Mongols. However, when the “Chinggis Khan Mausoleum” was completed in 1956, people found it to have faithfully inherited “the tradition of Japanese imperialism”, as the Mausoleum looked very similar to the Chinggis Khan Temple in the architectural style. This demonstrates that the CCP, while denouncing the Japanese colonial rule, has also inherited the spirit of its culture and policy to rein in the Mongols. Today, the Chinggis Khan Mausoleum-like modern architecture has gained popularity in Inner Mongolia, but few people actually know or even care that it has an origin from the evil “Japanese devils”. |
