英文摘要 | The objective of this study was to assess the movement behavior through the distance and path, time budget and preferred habitats of Taiwan landlocked salmon (Oncorhynchus masou formosanus). Nanotag radio telemetries were tagged to five individual fish (average length: 24.16 ± 4 cm) before release to the main channel of Cijiawan Stream for a 36-day tracking experiment. The distance of daily movement of Taiwan landlocked salmon, both upstream and downstream, significantly decreased with time since release. The distance of upstream movement was greater than that of downstream movement. The movement pattern of Taiwan landlocked salmon exhibited: (1) strongly diurnal behavior: daily movement behavior started near sunrise and ended at sunset and traveled to riffle area during the day and moved back to a specific deep pool at night, and (2) habitat preference behavior: daily distance moved reduced with time after release for large size fish they tended to stay around their home pool while non-competitive individuals moved frequently upstream and downstream between pools staying in a state of instability looking for a suitable habitat. This finding in the habitat preference related local movement behavior of Taiwan landlocked salmon may be informative for the future release strategies and habitat restoration managements. |
