| 英文摘要 | Chinese characters still prevail in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and elsewhere. However, as a result of historical changes in Chinese characters, the tendency among countries to coin their own characters, and the variance across countries in the number and range of Chinese characters that are frequently used, the senses of Chinese characters now vary from country to country. The number of Chinese characters now frequently used in Japan is 2,036; the number of Chinese characters now frequently used in South Korea and North Korea is 1,800 and 1,500, respectively. In addition, simplified Chinese characters are now also used in Singapore. This study recommends creating a platform for Chinese cultural industry and integrating Chinese characters across these countries. |
