中文摘要 | 英文歌曲可以應用在成人英語教學中促進學生的學習動機,可以提升學生的字彙量,並擴展學生關於西方文化的知識,讓外語課程更有趣。鑑於學習動機的提升對於學生的外語學習成效有重要的影響,因此本研究利用英文歌曲及圖畫書來提升學生的學習動機。本研究的研究對象為60 歲以上的高齡學習者共22 位,研究方法為在為期一年的英文教學後,以問卷方式調查課程參與者對於英文歌曲及圖畫書加入英語課程中的學習成效。本研究的研究目的為: 1.探討英文歌曲及圖畫書是否可以提升高齡學習者的學習動機, 2. 探討英文歌曲及圖畫書是否可以促進高齡學習者的學習成效。研究結果顯示大部分的高齡學習者對於英文歌曲及圖畫書應用於英語課程都持肯定的看法,並認為有助於提升他們的學習動機、發音、字彙、以及對西方文化的認識。 |
英文摘要 | Songs have the capacity to motivate learners and can be used in the adult English classroom to increase vocabulary, expand cultural knowledge, and make language lessons enjoyable (Abbott, 2002). Picture books have many positive features for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students, including useful content, high quality graphics and enjoyable storytelling (Henry & Simpson, 2001). As motivation is a prerequisite determining the success of foreign language learning, songs and picture books are used in this study to enhance students’ motivation. The L2 learners in this study are people who are over 60 years old. The English course is held once in a week for three hours each time. This paper is divided into three main sections. In the first section, motivation and the benefits of using songs and stories in L2 classroom are discussed. In the second section, a detailed account of the curriculum is described. In the third section, the results of the questionnaire are discussed. The findings of this study reveal that the use of songs and picture book stories is beneficial for these students, as they served as an effective motivational strategy. In this study, the following research questions are asked: 1. Do songs and picture books build motivation in elderly EFL students? 2. Do songs and picture books influence their performance in English? |
