傷口培養之細菌最常見爲Staphylococcus(30例),Enterococcus(12例),and Viridans streptococcus (7例)。 |
英文摘要 | Background: Previous studies have shown that the therapeutic effects of Biobrane and antimicrobial Silvadene dressing are controversial and required to validate. Therefore, we conducted a retrospective study to evaluate whether the early application of Biobrane or Silvadene dressing is more effective in reducing infections and leading to satisfied outcomes for pediatric burn patients. Aim and Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of antimicrobial Silvadene and immediate Biobrane dressing on the infection rate of burn injuries and length of hospital stay for pediatric burn patients. Materials and Methods: We collected data on 68 pediatric burn injury patients who were admitted to the burn unit of a teaching hospital in Taiwan from 2000 to 2007. The data included gender, age, length of hospital stay, type of burn, type of treatment, subsequent operation, and wound culture of each patient. Results: The Biobrane group (n=18) had a lower overall infection rate than the Silvadene group (n=50) (33% vs. 68%, p=0.013), but the differences in the subsequent operation rate (11% vs. 22%, p=0.488) and length of hospital stay (13.2±5.0 vs. 14.1±5.4 days, p=0.917) were insignificant. The bacteria that were most frequently harvested from wound cultures were Staphylococcus (30 patients), Enterococcus (12 patients), and Viridans streptococcus (7 patients). Conclusions: Immediate Biobrane dressing can lead to a lower infection rate than Silvadene, but the differences in the subsequent operation rate and length of hospital stay were statistically insignificant. |
