英文摘要 | The purpose of this study is to compare the running speed, stride length, and stride rate of two male runners in 24-hr Ultra-marathon race. The two male ultra-marathon runners, Ryoichi Sekiya from Japan and Sheng-Ming Wu from Taiwan, who participated in 2007 Soochow University International 24-hr Ultra-marathon race were recruited. The runners’ stride performances were video-recorded and analyzed by SiliconCOACH motor analyzing system. We found: (1) The average hourly running speed for Ryoichi and Wu is 11.45 and 9.01 km/hr,respectively; (2) The average stride length of Sekiya is significantly longer than Wu, 1.93 and 1.58 meters, respectively (p<.05); (3) The average stride rate of Sekiya is significantly lower than Wu, 1.49 and 1.60 strides/second, respectively (p<.05); (4) Both runners’ speed gradually reduced during the first 18 hours; however, the speed was recovered from the 19th hour; (5) The time spent during the stride cycle is also significantly different between two runners. Sekiya spent less time during the stance phase than Wu (right leg: 0.258 vs. 0.275 sec.; left leg: 0.247 vs.0.276 sec., p<.05). However, Sekiya had longer flight phase of right leg than Wu (0.064 vs.0.056 sec., p<.05). In conclusion, stride length is more critical than stride rate to improve the running speed.Runners with longer lower limbs may have the advantage on the running race. Finally, runners should adjust their physiological circadian clock in advance to improve their running performance. |
