中文摘要 | 本研究目的為發展新穎垂直配向共聚薄膜之液晶元件。將具有負誘電異方性液晶、兩種壓克力單體與光起始劑以適當比例摻混。經紫外光 (Ultra-Violet, UV) 照射後,因相分離而形成上下雙層垂直配向共聚薄膜。初步探討液晶分子在此垂直配向模式下之光穿透度以及對比度等光電特性。而由此實驗結果發現在適當比例下之液晶摻混系統其對比度達到1300:1。此新穎垂直配向技術於液晶顯示器工業可達到縮短聚醯亞胺 (Polyimide, PI) 段之前製程,並期望利用此垂直配向模式製作高對比特性之液晶元件。 |
英文摘要 | The purpose of this study is to develop novel vertical alignment (VA) copolymer films for liquid crystal (LC) devices. Negative dielectric anisotropy (N-type) LC, two kinds of acrylic monomer and a photoinitiator were mixed in the proper ratio. Only Ultra-Violet (UV) light irradiation was required to aid the phase separation of the LC mixture to form the upper and lower double layers of a VA copolymer film. Preliminary electro-optical properties of the LC molecules under the VA mode, such as optical transmittance and contrast ratio etc., have been characterized. The result of this experiment was discovered under the proper ratio LC mixtures system, the contrast ratio reaching 1300:1. This novel VA technology for the liquid crystal displays (LCDs) industry enables the shortening of Polyimide (PI) pre-processing and we hope to use the VA mode to manufacture high contrast ratio LC devices. |
