中文摘要 | 近年來逐漸被歐美文學界接受並且屢獲文學獎項的「圖像小說」(Graphic Novels),在台灣卻尚未受到矚目。然而,美國或澳洲諸多有關圖書館和閱讀教育的文獻中發現,圖像小說是可以刺激不情願的青少年讀者(Reluctant Reader)閱讀的一帖良藥。不僅公共與中小學圖書館館員大力推薦,也有教育人員提出利用圖像小說來發展孩子的視覺素養能力(Visual Literacy)並將此類讀物融入課程中。關於圖像小說的報導與文獻在台灣較為罕見,本文將淺顯簡要地介紹圖像小說的在英美澳等英語系國家中的發展、出版現象及其在推廣青少年閱讀上的情況,以及圖書館領域如何管理這類讀物的研究,期望可以為台灣的閱讀推廣教育者帶來一些新知與提醒,以達到拋磚引玉之效。 |
英文摘要 | Graphic novels, as an emerging literary genre receiving literary awards in Western world, haven’t been paid attention adequately in Taiwan. However, researches in literacy and reading education find that graphic novels motivate teenage reluctant readers and could be implemented to develop student visual literacy. Therefore, more and more professionals in librarianship and educational practitioners advocate the collection of this genre and the integration of graphic novels into the school curriculum. It is hardly to find similar studies in Taiwan, this article aims to review literature on graphic novels in terms of its development in UK, USA, and Australia, as well as its effect on the teenager’s reading behavior. In addition, from the aspect of library services, suggestions of collection building and management are also included in this literature review. |
