英文摘要 | This paper proposes a modification for performance improvement of shape coding of binary images. Arithmetic coding technique is adopted by MPEG-4 video coding standard. It achieves excellent coding performance for shapes of video objects. We modify this method by detecting the context information of each coding block in advance. With the information, we could establish a more precise probability model. The model will be changed due to different blocks and consequently adaptive to different characteristics of different blocks. The coding performance will be improved significantly if arithmetic coding adopts the adaptive probability model. Experimental results show that our proposal is superior to that defined in MPEG-4 video coding standard. |
