中文摘要 | 相較於傳統的電視系統,網路電視(Internet Protocol Television; IPTV)有著相當多的優點。然而,目前傳統電視仍有些優勢是IPTV所無法匹敵的,其中一個就是頻道切換(channel switch)的時間。目前,有部分研究都是使用頻道預先擷取(channel pre-fetch)的機制以及使用unicast來縮短channel switch的時間。然而受限於IPTV客戶端的硬體處理能力限制與頻寬限制,每個IPTV客戶端所能預先擷取的頻道數勢必會有個上限。倘若使用者要切換的頻道並沒有被事先擷取,則頻道切換的時間將無法被降低。對此,本文則提出鄰近節點預先擷取(neighbor node pre-fetch )。藉由鄰近節點的協助,即便是使用者要切換的頻道沒有被事先擷取,IPTV客戶端也可以向這些鄰近節點經由unicast取得所要的頻道內容,藉此降低頻道切換的時間。 |
英文摘要 | There are many advantages of IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) over the traditional TV systems. However, traditional TV systems have some characteristics that IPTV can not compete with, and one of these is the channel switch time. Some of current studies use channel pre-fetch method and unicast to decrease the channel switch time, but for these approaches, the number of pre-fetched channel is limited by the bandwidth and the processing capability of IPTV terminal device. If the target channel to is not among the pre-fetched channels, the channel switch time to that channel will not be decreased. In this paper, we propose a new method that uses the help from a neighbor node to do the pre-fetch. With the pre-fetch from the neighbor node, IPTV audience could get the content of the target channel by using unicast from neighbor nodes to decrease the channel switch time even when the switch target is not pre-fetched. |
