英文摘要 | The discussion of philosophy of life should be based on real life. Jin Ping Mei is a Bodhisattva book, which reflects the real life of human beings. The book extracts from the life of ordinary people two basic elements, "wealth" and "lust," in order to seek the road to liberation. This paper aims at discussing the religious concept and philosophy of life presented in Jin Ping Mei, explicating the essence of emptiness and mercy. The structure of my discussion is based on the contrast between "coldness and heat" and "forms and the visionary;" furthermore, the theme of "from death to enlightenment" also reflects the religious concept of "from forms to emptiness." The author's emphasis on four poems about human desires, warnings against sex and passion, the magnification of wealth, the predictive style of narration all reflect the complexity of this book. In this book, the pursuit of merits in the secular world is presented together with the metaphysical level of "to see one's originally enlightened mind" and "from forms to emptiness" that focus on samsara and mercy, thus making clear the author's emphasis on the importance of practicing Buddhism and the enlightenment of human beings; that is also the reason why the author ends the novel with a monk named "Ming Wu". I consult Zhang Zhupo's annotations on Jin Ping Mei and compare its text version with the version with embroidered portraits. But the multiplicity of authorship creates differences in analyses and understanding of the book; moreover, the juxtaposition of time and space as well as the obscene scenes coexisting with religious concepts point to the author's philosophy of life and his Bodhi-mind (resolve for enlightenment). |
