英文摘要 | There are two purposes in this study. One of is to present a dynamic model about the process of theory formation and refinement concerning the Mediterranean's geological past. The other is to transform the model to science learning process. Several philosophical models about theory of science are used to analyze the development of the Mediterranean theory. These models are: Toulmin's argument model about the theory development, Giere's model about the basic elements for the test of the theoretical hypothesis, and Root-Bernstein's model about four criteria for judging theories. The book "The Mediterranean Was A Desert," written by Dr. Kenneth Hsu, was chosen as the major historical material in that this book recorded in detail not only the process of theory construction but also the conflict reconciliation between geology and geophysics. Based on the theory analysis, a progressive model about science learning is suggested. It is hoped that this task is able to provide a different perspective to science teaching and learning. |
