中文摘要 | 統計學及統計觀念對生活品質的提升及專業素養的發展有極大的助益。大學生更是需要為了培養自己未來在就業市場的競爭性,積極發展統計知能及素養。近年來,因電腦資訊科技的高度發展,更使大學統計的教學內容、目標的著重點由繁複的計算轉變為統計數或分析結果意涵的解讀、應用及評論。 因此本研究的目的是在訂定大學的統計學力指標、水準,並進而了解臺灣大學生的統計成就水準的現況。首先根據指標發展測驗內容架構,進行編製大學統計測驗,測驗包含29題選擇,此29題統計試題包含四個內容種類及四個課程目標(或能力)。此測驗的平均試題難度是中等偏難。如果以期望答對率0.6為精熟水準,測驗中的試題可適切的分為三個難度層次,同時也產生了三個成就水準(或成就等級分類切割點)-基礎,精熟,及進階。 此研究的結果顯示,大部份臺灣的大學生統計學力是在基礎(basic)的層級,修過越多統計相關課程的學生似乎展現出較高的學力水準。但是修過一門統計課的學生與修過一門以上的學生,在學力水準上的差異並不如預期的大,而且令人訝異的是,修過一門以上的學生中有頗大的比例其學力水準未達基礎的層級。另外,男學生在統計測驗上的表現似乎比女學生要好,國立大學學生又比私立大學學生表現好,然而在下任何有關性別或公私立學校的定論前,必須再做進一步的研究探討。 |
英文摘要 | Statistics and statistical concepts can improve our lives personally and professionally. College and university students should be prepared with statistics knowledge and skills for better chance and development of their career. Recent advances in computer technology shift the focus of the teaching in statistics from mechanical computations to interpretations, applications, and evolutions of statistics. Th3e purpose of this study is to define, and provide information about the levels of proficiency in statistics for college and university students in Taiwan. According to the framework designed for the statistics assessment, the statistics assessment developed in this study consists of 29 multiple-choice items covering four content areas, and four objectives (or abilities). The average difficulty level of the statistics assessment appears to be medium to hard. The standard for minimal competency was set at an expected correct response probability of 0.6, and thereby three levels of item difficulty were derived from the items in the statistics assessment and three achievement levels were specified-basic, proficient, and advanced. The outcome of this study showed that most college and university students in Taiwan demonstrate basic-level performance in statistics. The higher proficiency in statistics tended to be associated with more course experience. However, students with more-than-one-course experience did not perform better than those with one-course experience as much as expected. Furthermore, the percentage of the below basic was quite high for students wit more-than-one-course experience. Additionally, males appeared to perform better than females, and students form public colleges and universities did better than those from private colleges and universities. Nevertheless, more researches are required to achieve any conclusion for gender and school type. |
