英文摘要 | Alexander Wendt explicates that Kant's book Perpetual Peace is what he calls: "The Kantian culture" in his book Social Theory of International Politics. After comparing these two books, I find that their viewpoints are very different from each other: Wendt stresses friendship, whereas Kant stresses the republic. Moreover Kant's Perpetual Peace was under the influence of Rousseau's Social Contract, but Wendt does not mention it. This article argues that when Wendt reflects about Kant, he is not aware of the influence that Rousseau had on Kant. Thus Wendt ignores Rousseau's influence on Kant, which consequently results in his misunderstanding of Kant. Kant's framework is based on republic and right, and friendship is only a part of his framework. But Wendt enlarges the importance of friendship and replaces the republic with friendship. To sum up, Wendt's "The Kantian culture" is a misreading of Kant's Perpetual Peace. |
