| 英文摘要 | Background and Purpose: We studied the psychological and physical stresses of female patients undergoing a hysterosalpingographic (HSG) examination. Methods: From 1 October to 30 November 2002, 197 consecutive female patients who had an HSG examination in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology of Hsin kong Hospital were recruited for the study. Results: Most (90.9%) of the patients had never had an HSG examination before. The average age of the patients was 33 years. All of the patients were requested to fill out a questionnaire regarding the psychological and physical stresses experienced during the HSG examination. For the physical stress, 'pain' was the most-common complaint. For the psychological stress, 'shame' was the most-common feeling. Some patients (14.3%) coped with the stress by 'thinking', 'focusing', or 'praying'. As to the environment in which the HSG examination was carried out, most patients (52.2%) had no abnormal feelings about it, but 48 patients (24.3%) felt it was 'cold'. The average score of satisfaction was 4.47 (out of a full score of 6). Suggestions by the patients included: 'providing a detailed explanation prior to the examination', 'giving a gentler and faster examination', and 'turning down the air-conditioner'. Conclusion: From these findings, patients may feel more satisfied with the HSG examination if we can help them overcome these psychological and physical stresses. |
