中文摘要 | 師保傅是周朝教官名,其職責主要在於負責王太子及公卿大夫子弟的德行和禮儀教育。東周以後由於王室衰微、財政困難、士大夫多不悅學等種種因素,使得原本為貴族獨享、「學在官府」的教育制度逐漸衰廢,但另一方面,貴族階層基於培養其子弟的迫切需要,因而,「保傅制度」作為王官之學向私人之學轉化的緩衝物便盛行了起來。但,不同於西周時代的是,師保傅到了春秋時代已不再只是單純扮演王太子與公卿大夫世子師傅的角色,而是更為積極地介入政治、軍事與法律等方面,有的還仗恃其教育對象特殊而尊貴的身分,悍然搶奪他人田地、或是介入王太子的婚姻,甚至掌控君王的廢立大權,其權勢可謂達到空前膨脹。本文試圖就《左傳》所載相關事例,探討師保傅在春秋時代的角色扮演,從中發現,師保傅複雜而多元的角色扮演乃是當時詭譎緊張的政治情勢所造成的。 |
英文摘要 | Shih-Pao-Fu is the name of officials holding positions as royal teachers in Chou Dynasty. These officials were in charge of the education of princes and youngsters of the noble families concerning their character, integrity and etiquette. Attributed to the decline as well as financial problems of the royal families and the disapproval of scholar-officials, the aristocratic education system that belonged solely to the noble families went through gradual decay since Eastern Chou Dynasty. Before that, only a few classes of people had had access to education. Hence the urgent educational need of the aristocratic and the royal families gave rise to the educational system of royal teachers that bridged the gap between the royal and private educational systems. As time went by, the nature of royal teachers shifted when it came to Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). The royal teachers then played much more complicated roles: they actively engaged themselves in political, military and even legal affairs in their time. With their superior social status as teachers of the royal families, some of them took fields from others by force, involved in the marriage of the Princes or even manipulate the coronation of kings. The power in their command had reached a higher level than ever. This paper is to explore royal teachers’ roles in Spring and Autumn Period. From cases found in Tso Chuan, it can be inferred that the complicated roles they played might have resulted from the messy political situations during that time. |
