英文摘要 | A self-developed questionnaire was given to survey the current independentstudy (IS, for short) instructions carried out by sixty-seven IS teachers in elementaryschools' gifted resource classes in Kaohsiung city. The findings, together with theteachers' viewpoints and suggestions of IS, were summarized by the researcher asfollows: 1.The majority of teachers have supported and conducted IS teachings. They are capable of planning curriculum and establishing one to three IS courses weekly forthe gifted students. 2.The students have completed the IS with interesting thematic studiesindividually or in groups. The resulting achievements of IS have been presented regularly at the meetings held by the teachers. 3.A greater part of the parents have supported teachers' professional guidance. 4.While guiding the students to proceed with the IS, the teachers havencountered difficulties from five areas: the students, the teachers themselves, resources outside the school, curriculum planning, and the school administrations. 5.The teachers have been convinced that in order to successfully guide thestudents to complete the IS, they have to plan in advance, guide and encourage the students appropriately during teaching, control teaching schedules, participate in in-service advanced studies and seminars, upgrade their know-how, maintain good communications with the parents regularly, and seek for parents' assistance or other resources. |
