英文摘要 | In this paper, I am going to conduct a theoretical proposition of exchange between a besieged post-colonial identity and transgender masculinity, the fomer suffering diaspora, resentment, and bigotry, and the later magnifying an edgy, tragically heroic exile and anguishing self-quest. These post-colonial identities are pervasively written by Edward Said's theoretical elaboration of Palestine people, several prototypical modes of the expatriate, and the intellectual exile, while representations of a queer masculinity are vigorously portrayed by variant texts, including autobiographical writings, science fiction, and literature on sadomasochism. These two issues will be interrupting each other and formulating a mutually interpretative correspondence, with the former regarding a marginal racial subject struggling to earn recognition, and the latter manifesting a queer identity whose force is starting to gain attention and support within certain locations. It is my intention to form a reciprocally analogous framework between these two issues by intervention and negotiation through Said's post-colonial vision, and hopefully this paper will achieve a satisfying semi-conclusion, which allows contrapuntal interpretations of these two sets of textual materials. Post-colonial marginality, argued over and for by Edward Said, might help constitute an interpretive model, or an allegorical foreground to account for a transgender masculinity which, for example, like Islam subjectivity, is often deemed terroristic and brutally inhuman, shadowed by its own guilt and charisma. By way of this in-depth textual analysis of several literary texts and Said's writings, I am going to speculate that there is a ruthless and obstinate inscription within these wronged subjects, recognized and highlighted as outlaws, whose unholy stigma, in the end, is turned upside down as an ambivalent splendour. The effect of such a transformation is both revealing and historically dialectic. By excavating these chosen texts, I am performing the process of re-reading a wandering national identity in light of transgender politics, and at the same moment, unclosetingsome queer metaphors out of a literary dungeon saturated with post-colonial power interactions. |
