中文摘要 | 為了滿足快速成長的用戶頻寬需求,接取網路全面以光纖來取代既有銅纜已經是不可避免的趨勢。許多國家與地區選擇採用具有共享傳輸媒介特性的被動光纖網路系統作為新一代的接取網路,以減少光纖網路的建置成本。在被動光纖網路中,傳輸媒介是由多個使用者共享,因此要如何動態地分配頻寬給各個使用者是個相當重要的課題。由於乙太網路的設備的高度普及性與其價格優勢,我們選擇以乙太網路為基礎的被動光纖網路系統(Ethernet-based PON)作為研究的對象。首先,本文將簡介EPON的系統架構以及IEEE 802.3ah MPCP協定。接著,我們介紹幾個目前已被提出的動態頻寬配置演算法之運作原理,同時討論其特性之優缺點。最後,我們歸納出許多動要的動態頻寬配置演算法設計考量,探討其應用於實際系統的適用性。 |
英文摘要 | To satisfy the highly increasing demand of bandwidth from end users, it is an inevitable trend of using fibers to replace the existing copper cables in the access network. Many countries and regions choose Passive Optical Network (PON) systems as their next-generation access network to reduce the cost of constructing fiber network owing to PON’s nature as a shared media. Because many users will be sharing the media, it is vital for a PON system to introduce a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) mechanism in order to meet the instantaneous bandwidth requirements from the end users. In this paper we focus on the DBA algorithms fro Ethernet-based PON systems due to the ubiquity of Ethernet. We also introduce the concept and the characteristics of a variety of DBA algorithms, and from these algorithms we summarize a list of design considerations. For each design consideration we investigate the merits and demerits of the applicability to a practical PON system. |
