中文摘要 | 本研究之目的是發展一套適用於大一學生之英文時態電腦診斷測驗,並檢測其有效性與實用性,同時藉由施測結果瞭解大一學生英文時態之困難所在。研究者憑藉英文文法錯誤之文獻分析結果及多年教授英文之經驗,由十二種英文時態中,挑選出最常用的七種,建構雙向細目表,發展出190題,由兩所大學挑選約300名大一學生,經過兩次預試,根據預試的項目分析結果,刪除不適宜題目得171題,以建構題庫,設計電腦診斷測驗系統,並建置於慈濟大學網站上。本研究由慈濟大學大一學生中選取87名學生,進行英文時態電腦診斷測驗。以t考驗檢測高、低分組學生平均得分之差異,(t(67) = 11.49,p = .000)達顯著水準,顯示該診斷測驗具有良好的鑑別力;經比較英文時態電腦診斷測驗與英文文法精熟測驗(紙筆測驗)施測結果,發現二者的相關係數(r=.356,p=.004<.01)達顯著水準,顯示英文時態電腦診斷測驗具有不錯的同時效度。藉由分析學生在英文時態電腦診斷測驗之錯誤得知,相較之下,學生在「過去式」及「現在式」上遭遇的困難,比「未來式」多。綜合檢視21個時態分項發現,學生在簡單現在式、現在完成式、簡單過去式、過去完成式的錯誤率偏高,這與其他相關研究的結果一致,此外,本研究也發現學生在現在進行式及過去進行式的錯誤率也頗高。由英文時態電腦診斷測驗問卷調查得知,83~91%的學生對該測驗的螢幕呈現方式感到滿意,77%學生認為題目難易適中,85%學生肯定該測驗能診斷出自己的英文時態問題,90%學生認為測驗系統回饋的診斷資訊對其英文時態學習有助益,但是也有部分學生反應本系統施測的題數偏多,希望可以減少測驗的題數。綜上所述,本研究所發展的英文時態電腦診斷測驗具有良好的效度,且獲得使用者對其功能的肯定,堪稱是一個有效且實用的診斷測驗系統。 |
英文摘要 | The purpose of this study is to develop a computerized diagnostic test system for English Tenses (CDTSET) and to test both its validity and practicability, as well as to figure out freshmen’s learning difficulties of English tenses. Based on error analysis of English grammar and the researcher’s English teaching experience, 7 tenses were selected from among 12, to construct the table of specification and develop 190 items for 2 pretests. According to the results of item response analyses, only 171 items were consequently selected to construct the item bank, design the computerized diagnostic test system, and then set up it on the website of Tzu Chi University. After the CDTSET had been constructed, 87 freshmen took the CDTSET test. According to data analysis results, we found the t-test for the difference between high level and low level students’ average scores was significant, (t(67) = 11.49,p = .000), which means this diagnostic test has good discrimination. Comparing the results between the diagnostic test and Grammar Proficiency Test (written test), the correlation coefficient is significant, (r=.356,p=.004<.01), indicating the test has good concurrent validity. Based on analysis of the students’ mistakes, we find students have more difficulty with past tenses and present tenses, but less difficulty with future tenses. On inspecting the 21 tense sub-levels, we found students have higher error rates in the simple present tense, present perfect tense, simple past tense and past perfect tense. The result is the same as other researchers’ findings. However, we also found students had higher error rates in the present progressive tense and past progressive tense. The analysis questionnaire on the English tenses diagnostic test showed 83-91% of the students were satisfied with the presentation of this system, 77% of the students recognized the item difficulties as suitable, 85% verified the test system does diagnose their tenses problem and offer useful diagnostic information, and 90% believe the system really helps their English tense learning. Nevertheless, some students suggest decreasing the number of items they have to take during the test. In conclusion, the English tenses computerized test system is a practical test system with good reliability and validity. |
