英文摘要 | The paper discusses the listening component, especially with regard to academic lectures, of two commercial TOEFL practice books published within the past five years. It examines the way the common course books reflect current defects in preparing students for the TOEFL test in their treatment of the listening skill for the purpose of self-study or the TOEFL course. Based on the instructional implications of interactive models of listening, the paper presents a three-phase approach to adapting and supplementing a lecture selected from Lingua TOEFL Computer-Based Test (CBT) Listening Practice Test 1-4. It implies that in order to help learners to identify various aspects of lecture comprehension and gradually become efficient listeners through their practice phase teachers who desire to improve their students' performance need to adapt and supplement listening tasks at the beginning of the instructional phase. |
