中文摘要 | 由於微軟Windows平臺在多媒體串流應用領域相較於Linux平臺擁有更豐富的產品資源及技術支援,因此多媒體串流應用服務在微軟Windows平臺已經發展的相當成熟。然而,Linux平臺相較於微軟Windows平臺低成本、高穩定度及開放原始碼的優勢特性,在未來一定具有相當程度的發展潛力。 本文係以提供低整體擁有成本(TCO)、高穩定度及高服務品質的多媒體串流服務為前提,研究並利用現有Linux平臺在客戶端及伺服器端所支援之相關適用freeware及開放原始碼程式來實作並研究多媒體串流服務之可行性。在本研究實作的過程中,我們意外發現現有客戶端Linux平臺的播放軟體並沒有配合串流服務的特性提供很好的資源管理機制,導致多媒體串流服務品質劣化及服務突然中斷,因此本文一併提出有效解決原有產品缺點的資源管理機制。此外,結合上述研發出之資源管理機制,再加上創意廣告排程管理以及連結網際網路的實驗環境,讓此次多媒體串流服務實作跳脫刻版的實驗室環境而更接近真實的世界;也更能證明在全Linux平臺的環境下,提供穩定而且高品質服務的多媒體串流應用已不再是遙不可及的夢想。 |
英文摘要 | Due to the abundant software resource and technique support, the multimedia streaming service on Microsoft windows platform has been developed well for years when compared with that on Linux platform. But, the merits of Linux platform compared with those of Microsoft Windows:low cost, high reliability and opened source, have drawn a lot of attentions on commercial applications these days. In this paper, to provide low total cost of ownership(TCO) for multimedia streaming service while maintaining its stability and quality, we survey and apply the suitable freeware and open-sourced software on both server-site and client-site Linux platforms to simulate a commercial-oriented multimedia streaming service. Our major contribution in this paper lies I not nly realizing the bug call “memory leak”, which degrades the quality and stability of multimedia streaming service, for the only media player that can be used on Linux platform but also proposing a novel memory management scheme that successfully resolve the demerit caused by the bug. Besides, combined with the novel memory management scheme proposed, we add the schedule management technique for the streaming media to be presented under the internet experiment environment that enriches the contents for the simulation of commercial-oriented multimedia streaming service. According to our simulation result, the multimedia streaming service with satisfactory stability and quality in the all-Linux-platform environment is accomplished. |
