英文摘要 | After aerial exposure for 3 days at 25 and 4°C, the respiration rates of hard clam at 25°C were elevated from 1.2 mole O2/h‧g body weight (in the control group) to 1.8 and 2.1 mole O2/h‧g body weight, respectively. An increase in the temperature significantly increased the respiration rate of clams. The Q10, a ratio of respiration rates over a 10°C increase in temperature, was equal to 2 at temperatures of 15~25°C. No effect of changes in salinities or starvation on the respiration rate was found. There was no significant difference in the respiration rate of hard clam at pH values of between 6 and 10. However, at pH 4, a 40% decrease in oxygen consumption of hard clam was measured. The respiration rate of hard clam decreased in seawater without magnesium ions. This decrease could be recovered by the addition of magnesium ions, but not by the addition of sodium ions. |
