英文摘要 | The present paper primarily offers an annotated translation of the criticism the Sakya scholar Go-ram-pa levelled against the views of the Jonang school in his Discernment of Right View. Through this work we come to understand that the masters holding the other emptiness view maintained that in India it were the YogAcAra teachers who advocated this proposition. They based their theory on the concept of the three natures and, relying on PrajñApAramitA scriptures, regarded the general MAdhyamika as nihilism. In their mind, only the emptilessness of absolute truth reflects the highest MAdhyamika. Following Red-mda-ba's logic, Go-ram-pa examined and refuted this concept in great detail and, accepting Rong-ston's judgement, came to the conclusion that other emptiness was as Buddhist view which ranked higher than the VijñAnavAda but lower than the MAdhyamika. Through the present paper, we are able to see both, the openness and vivaciousness of religious debate among Tibetan Buddhists in the 15th century, how they strove for religious and academic truth, and the large scale prohibition under the white terror of highly developed integration of secular and religious power, the truth of so-called heresy. |
