英文摘要 | The association between insect bite and nephrotic syndrome is rare. However, the occurrence of minimal change disease as a consequence of insect bite is even more rare. We report a 17 years-old Taiwanese girl who developed nephrotic syndrome after being bitten by a horsefly in England. The percutaneous renal biopsy revealed minimal change glomerulonephritis. The patient was treated with oral prednisolone, complete remission was achieved after three months of steroid therapy. However, relapse of nephrotic syndrome occurred three months after complete remission. She was followed up for more than 18 months and had persistent proteinuria and edema, which was resistant to steroid, cyclosporine, and mycophenolate mofetil therapy. Herein, we review the literature on insect bite associated with nephrotic syndrome in some patients proven by renal biopsy. And we also discuss the clinical manifestations, course, and outcome in these patient. In addition, steroid-resistant minimal change disease is also mentioned. |
