英文摘要 | This study investigates the generation and propagation of cnoidal waves in a numerical viscous wave tank. Goring and Raichlen’s theory (1980) was applied to determine the wavemaker motion for generating cnoidal waves. The 2-d unsteady Navier-Stokes equations, the exact free surface boundary conditions and the upstream boundary condition at the wavemaker were then solved numerically to produce the cnoidal waves in the wave tank. The accuracy of the numerical scheme was verified by comparing the numerical results of the wave profiles and the associated fluid velocities with the theoretical solutions. The numerical results showed that as the waves with smaller Ursell number propagate in the tank, an envelope soliton was formed at the front of the wave trains. However, the waves with larger Ursell number attenuate in the propagation due to the bottom friction. |
