中文摘要 | 要知道英文字彙學習策略之實際成效,要有實證研究才能給予評價,因此本研究旨在探討語意處理學習策略對技職院校學生在英文單字學習方面之影響。本研究以技職院校學生為對象實際進行語意處理學習策略之教學。在接受語意處理學習策略教學前,實驗組與控制組先進行有關單字理解的前測,實驗組接受語意處理學習策略而控制組以傳統背誦法教學為主,在實驗結束後,受試者接受有關單字理解的後測,2星期後,受試者再接受單字理解的後測。研究結果顯示語意處理學習策略較傳統背誦法有較好學習成效,而且在長期記憶方面語意處理學習策略亦有較佳之成效。因此根據本研究結果英語教師可以教導學生有效之單字學習策略,使學生培養獨立學習的習慣,並進而改善英語聽說讀寫的能力。 |
英文摘要 | The main purpose of this study is to assess the effect of semantic elaboration learning strategy on English vocabulary acquisition. To explore the effect of semantic elaboration learning strategy in the authentic English classroom, three vocabulary tests were administered to two classes of junior college students (totaling 81) for their vocabulary abilities before the instruction of semantic elaboration method, immediately after the instruction and two weeks after the instruction. The results of the study indicate that semantic elaboration strategy has stronger effect on the acquisition of English vocabulary than traditional rote memory strategy does. This finding provides empirical evidence for the predictions made from the depths-of-processing theory. As elaboration occurs at deeper levels, it will produce longer retention of information. The findings of this study should be of great help to both English teachers and students. By means of understanding the effects of different vocabulary learning strategies, English teachers can equip students with necessary and effective vocabulary learning strategies, which, in turn, can have a positive influence on the independent vocabulary learning and the improvement of four language skil1s. |
