| 英文摘要 | This paper will discuss the xiangyinjiuli (鄉飲酒禮 vi11agewine drinking ceremony), a ceremony performed at banquets in pre-Qin times. Rulers from the Han to the Tang raised the status of this ceremony considerably. But while the ruling c1assof the Later Han dynasty acknowledged the role of this ceremony, it did not become a part of the imperial sacrificial system until the Sui and Tang dynasties. During the Sui dynasty, this ceremony was performed at both the court and the seats of local government, but after Emperor Xuan of the Tang it took place only at the administration units of the state. As the ceremony evolved, the element of zheng chiwei (正齒位, the ceremony of respecting elders) was separated out from the ceremony. The author argues that in the period from the Han to the Tang the main theme of this ceremony shifted from respecting elders to respecting wisdom. With its recording in the Datang kaiyuan li 大唐開元禮, the ritual finally became a state ceremony. |
