英文摘要 | When mobile nodes (MNs) change their points of attachment of the access network, Mobile IP (MIP) is adopted to use for keeping the end-to-end connections between the MN and corresponding node (CN). To provide fast and smooth handoff, Micro-mobility protocol is designed for fast movement between base stations in the same domain. By using Micro-mobility protocol, packet loss during the handoff procedure can be reduced. Besides, Micro-mobility protocol addresses the issues of energy and bandwidth usage to minimize the resource consumption. Cellular IP, HAWAII, and Hierarchical Mobile IP are three main kinds of Micro-mobility protocols. In these protocols, the operations of paging, location tracking, and enhanced handoffs are supported. We describe the details of these Micro-mobility protocols and compare the differences based on their design guidelines and execution performance. |
