中文摘要 | 本研究意在以跨文化觀點來檢視「U型曲線的藝術教育發展模式(U-curve model of artistic development)」,並對於普遍或文化差異的審美判斷論證提供最直接的實證資料。此跨文化研究分別收集不同文化地區(加拿大及台灣)五歲、八歲、十一歲、十四歲、具美術專業訓練的成人及未具美術專業訓練的成人之繪圖,並由來自加拿大及台灣地區不同年齡與美術專業背景的人針對這些圖畫進行審美判斷。 與此研究的審美判斷者(評圖員)分別來自五歲、十四歲、具美術訓練的成人及未具美術專業訓練的成人等四個群體。 本文包括緒論、相關文獻探討、研究方法、研究結果以及結論等五部分,主要針對台灣評圖員如何評判台灣畫作與加拿大畫作。研究結果初步證實文化差異之於人類審美判斷的影響。 |
英文摘要 | One of the influential theories of artistic development points to a developmental decline in aesthetic quality of children’s drawings in the middle childhood years, followed, in at least some cases, by a re-birth of artistic skill in adolescence or adulthood (Gardner and Winner, 1982; Davis, 1991). It suggests a U-Shaped trajectory of development that may describe aesthetic development the world over. However, our earlier research as well as that of others has put cross-cultural universality of the U-curve theory into question. The present study subjected the U-curve theory to a rigorous empirical test. We collected drawings made by individuals between the ages 5 and 14 and by artistic and non-artistic adults in Canada and Taiwan and worked with judges from the same two geographic areas who were asked to rank the drawings according to their perceived merit. This paper presents research regarding Taiwanese judgments of developmental patterns in aesthetic growth in relation to drawings indigenous and foreign to their cultural setting. These results confirm earlier doubts regarding the universal applicability of the U-curve model and suggest a powerful influence of culture in considerations of development in art. |
