英文摘要 | Objective: Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is characterized by medically unexplained debilitating fatigue. Although patients with CFS usually report a wide range of cognitive complaints, neuropsychological studies typically reveal only mild dysfunctions. This study evaluated neurophysiological evidence for cognitive dysfunction based on event-related potentials (ERPs) during a prolonged cognitive task in CFS patients. Methods: ERPs were recorded in 10 patients with CFS and 9 healthy controls while they performed a 30-minute vigilance task. The task was to press a button when a target stimulus and to ignore a non-target stimulus presented on a computer screen. P300 peak amplitude, area measure, and latency, as well as accuracy and reaction time were evaluated. Results: The amplitude and area measure of P300 were significantly lower in patients with CFS compared to healthy controls. No difference in accuracy or reaction time was found between the two groups. Conclusion: The P300 amplitude and area measure of patients with CFS tends to be smaller across electrode sites, implying the presence of a lower tonic arousal. |
