英文摘要 | The purpose of this paper is to examine the research on silent and oral reading modalities, to investigate factors related to reading modalities, and hopefully to suggest an effective way to improve students' reading comprehension in the EFL (English as Foreign Language) classroom. Research presented advantages of both silent reading and oral reading. The debate of which reading modality can efficiently improve students' reading comprehension has continued. According to these studies, students' age, English proficiency, development of internalization, and reading content are factors related to reading modality and reading comprehension. However, since most of the research focused on NES (Native English Speaker) learners, more research should be done in the context of EFL. |
