中文摘要 | 根據社會心理語言學的觀點,閱讀過程是一種讀者心理,文本語言,以及環境的互動。因此,如何啟動讀者背景知識及經驗是一個重要課題。此刻,文學作品則擔任一個能夠誘出作者和讀者間類似經驗及知識的角色。在以英語為母語的研究領域中,已有許多實驗證明,文學作品能有效地培養增進孩子的閱讀能力。但在以英語為第二語言或外語的領域裡,尚待學者專家進一步的研究。 本文試圖描述文學作品的功能特色,進而對選擇文學作品的標準,作一綜觀。最後的重點,則是探討有效的閱讀教學策略及技巧,至於文化差異引起的英語學習困境,則不在本文研究的範疇中。 |
英文摘要 | Social-psycholinguistic model of reading process emphasizes the interaction of the mind of a reader, the language of a text, and the environment. It is an important issue how to effectively activate readers' background knowledge and experience while reading in a given context. At this moment, literature is able to extract mutual knowledge and shared experience between writers and readers. In the field of first language acquisition, there is a great deal of empirical evidence to support such a fact. Yet, we still need to strive for making studies and collecting data to test this assumption in the domain of English as a second/foreign language (ESL/EFL), even though L1 reading process is somehow transferred to that of L2. This paper, first, tries to describe the functions of literature. Then, we will take an overall look of the criteria of how to select appropriate literature work on the basis of various age levels of child readers. On the occasion, it is necessary for teachers to understand their students. Finally, it is the focus to discuss about effective and efficient instructional strategies and skills of reading. That is, ESL/EFL reading teachers not only have the knowledge of literature, but they also need to own the knowledge of the criteria of selection, and available instructional strategies and skills. Potential learning difficulties due to cultural differences between English and Chinese are out of the scope of this study. |
