中文摘要 | 位於金瓜石的陰陽海早期一直被認為是臺金公司煉礦所造成的污染,也常成為公 眾指責礦業活動污染環境的例子。然而臺金公司關閉已經十餘年,陰陽海依然存在,而依據 近年來的研究結果顯示,它可能是由黃鐵礦等硫化礦物經風化作用所造成之自然現象,並非 煉礦之污染,臺金公司早年為此背負黑鍋,實屬莫大之冤。事實上,曾被誤為污染的陰陽海 現象在龜山島也可發現,而佈滿褐黃色岩石的溪流則在大屯山區附近的南、北磺溪和萬里磺 溪處處可見。根據本研究採樣分析結果顯示,這些地區的水樣多數含有很高的硫酸根離子、 氯離子及鐵離子等,且許多均超過環保署規定的污水標準,然而上述地區一為無民眾居住的 小島,一為國家公園所管轄,其水樣元素含量之異常乃為地質之後火山作用所造成,並非人 為之污染。由於地質環境差異極大,各種元素的分佈也極不均勻,許多地區的地質背景質原 本便超過現行之環保標準,若未能加以釐清,則設立於其上的工礦業便可能會面臨類似臺金 公司因地質異常不明,而背負污染罪過之黑鍋,此對於社會經濟之正面發展也將帶來許多無 謂的紛爭與困擾。因而及早調查與建立國內各種地質環境之水質、土壤的背景資料,有其迫 切之必要性,此不但可為環保法規制訂之參考,也可將原生地質背景異常與工礦業污染加以 界定,有助於工礦業之正常發展。 |
英文摘要 | Yin-Yang Sea of northeastern Taiwan was thought as a result of of pollution from the mining and smelting of Chinkuashih gold-copper deposits for a long time, and is a famous example of environmental impact. That has become an obstruction for mining activities in Taiwan. The mine has been closed for ten year, nevertheless, the Yin-Yang Sea still exists. According to this study, Yin-Yang Sea is a natural phenomenon due to the weathering of pyrite, instead of pollution. similar yellow river-water and seawater also can be found in the Tatun volcano area of northern Taiwan and Turtel Island of I-lan Hsien. The water from those area contains very high sulfate, chlorine and iron which exceeding the water-quality standard of EPA, ROC. However, they have never been thought as pollution. The trace element contents of the earth crust are very irregular in different geological environments. Some heavy metals are enriched in many geological processes and exceed the standard of environmental laws. These geochemical anomalies should be distinguished from pollution, otherwise, the industries established on the areas could be thought as the source of the "pollution". That will be a big obstacle for the regular industry and mining activities. Therefore, to establish geochemical background of water and soil is an urgent necessary for the economy development of Taiwan. |
