英文摘要 | With the progress and development of science and technology, deterioration of the ecological environment is more and more telling and serious. Envrionmental crisis, however, is often ignored by man; therefore, raising the ecological consciousness is critical. In this paper, I propose to illustrate that man's traditional anthropocentric attitude is dangerous to nature because the man-centered attitude ignoring the rights of nature results in the destruction of ecological environment. I attempt to reveal the unbalanced situation of the ecology in Taiwan and the insufficiency of the governor's ecological consciousness. Moreover, man's attitude considering the ecology and respecting the rights of nature is decisive to nature preservation. In what follows, some nature writings including Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, Sarah Orne Jewett's "A White heron," Aldo Leopold's A Sand County, J. E. Lovelock's Gaia, Henry David Thoreau's Walden and William Wordsworth's "The Table Turned," clearly exemplify the significance of ecocentrism. By remaining ecocentric attitude toward nature, the protection of environment will be possible. |
