英文摘要 | Social studies are the curriculum in elementary and secondary schools in America. They are the study of men. The purpose of social studies is to develop effective, critical thinking, and participating citizens. The article will explain the origin of social studies, the development of curriculum and make clear the meaning of social studies. Social studies are only the subject in schools. They are different from social sciences. The social sciences are academic studies in universities. The social studies are an integration of experience and knowledge concerning human relations for the aim of citizenship education. Therefore, the social studies are to discipline the student to adjust and conform to the society. It is also to make the student have the ability to solve the problem. They well build the communities more peaceful and happy. |
