中文摘要 | 動機是學習語言的關鍵因素。研究人員提出兩種動機—融合動機及實用動機。英 語在臺灣為一外語(相對於第二語言),學習者所獲得的外語刺激有限,也無以英語溝通 的需要,固語言學習動機以實用動機為主。了解其中關鍵因素,可以提高英語教師在教學 上的效果。許多高中、大學以坊間的廣播英語教材為學生的課內或課外教材。本校多年來 亦指定廣播英語教材為英文課外補充讀物。學生除了每天應收聽廣播課程,每星期還有聽 力考試,但是效果似乎未達老師們先前的期待。本文從動機的觀點來探討本校實施以廣播 英語教材為課外讀物的效果和學生對本措施的態度。 |
英文摘要 | Motivation is the key factor to the effective language learning. Researchers have brought up two types of motivation─integrative and instrumental motivation. In an EFL environment where language learners experience minimal target language stimulation and do not feel the need to communicate in the target language, instrumental motivation is the typical case here. Understanding the underlying key determinant helps language instructors perform effectively in language teaching. In this setting, a prevalent self-learning tool in language education is broadcasting magazines. Students in our school have been required to listen to the radio programs in addition to reading the magazines every day. They then take weekly listening quizzes to evaluate their learning results. However, most of the students do not seem to take the assignment seriously. This paper examines the effectiveness and attitudes of the practice for the assignment from the motivational point of view, and also offers some suggestions on making the best use of these materials to assist students. |
