英文摘要 | Objective: Follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) play important roles in the human microbial defense mechanism. In early HIV infection, FDCs trap HIV viral particles rapidly and prolong their life during HIV's highly infectious period. However, whether HIV actually infects the FDCs is controversial. Methods: In this study, we examined the pathological changes and immunochemical expressions of HIV accessory proteins in the lymph node of HIV/AIDS patients from West Africa. Results: Viral gene expressions of Vpr and Vpx were localized in the cyto-plasm of FDCs and scattered tingible-body macrophages in the germinal center of the lymph nodes by immuno-labelings. Further examinations confirmed that HIV particles were present in these HIV target cells. There were no defined differences with respect to the pathohistological alterations, ultrastructural changes and viral expressions in HIV-2 with HIV-1-infected sample comparisons. Conclusions: We suggest that the FDCs and tingible-body mac-rophages experience fine structural damage through the expression of HIV viral genes. |
